However, a further quake happened again at 6:50am Sep. 26 and caused great quantities of soil and stone to slide. Chen Jiu Xiong failed to escape and was hit by stone. The excavator was completely destroyed. Chen Jiu Xiong's right arm was broken by stone. After Chen Jiu Xiong was hit, our heavy machinery team immediately dispatched a rescue helicoper and sent him to the hospital. But Chen Jiu Xiong didn't make it. All of our staff were in deep sorrow for losing this teammate. Chen Jiu Xiong was at the age of 55 and had 25-years working experience. To all staff of heavy machinery team, he was not only a responsible and easygoing colleague, but also an experienced expert. Chen Jiu Xiong was already qualified for retirement with his sufficient working experience. Unexpectedly, he died in this rescue mission. His broken right forearm was found after 3 days when his child went there to lead his soul. Facing the moment of losing Chen Jiu Xiong, it made us sigh. On one side, we had to continue the urgent rescue mission, on the other side, appropriate comfort needed to be taken for colleagues' pain of losing comrades. To recall the rescue process in 921 Earthquake, we specially recorded his brave behavior. ＊ On-Site Rescue Files Our heavy machinery team mobilized all machines and personnel to join the rescue from Sep. 22 1999 to Dec. 31, totally 99 working days.
