The Ju Long Pu Fault information used on this analysis is based on the numerical chart 1/5000 drawn by Central Geological Survey of Ministry of Economic Affairs and with it we combined the damage investigation information. The content of this analysis was divided into 2 sections, passage analysis and affected region analysis. Ju Long Pu fault fracture belt was mainly along the joint of the plain and the mountains in Taichung and Nan Tou, and extended toward east with angle 26 degree. The total length is about 96 kilometers. The north section, Fengyuan, has a 45-degree turn and many fragmentary fracture belts. (Refer to the photo)

Passage Analysis

Areas along the Ju Long Pu FaultDivided by administration: Miaoli County (Juolan Town), Taichung City, Taichung County (Heping Hsiang, Dongshi Hsiang, Shigang Hsiang, Fengyuan Hsiang, Tanchi Hsiang, Taiping City, Dali City, Wufeng Hsiang), Nan Tou County (Caotun Town, Nan Tou County, Mingjian Hsiang, Chungliao Hsiang, Zhushan town) etc., total 4 county/cities and 15 Hsiang/Towns.

Divided by plan: Juolan, Dongshi, Shigang dan specialized area, Fengyuan, Taichung city (Dakeng area), Taiping, Taiping (Taiping village, Chungping village, Donping village), Wufeng, Caotun, Chungshin New Village, Nan Tou, Mingjian, Zhushan (Yanping area) etc., 13 urban planning areas. As to the non-urban/rural areas are Juolan town (2), Dongshi (2), Taiping city (5), Wufeng Hsiang (12) Caotun town (5) Mingjian Hsiang (1) and Zhushan Town(8). 35 country areas in these 7 Hsiangs/towns don't have fault to go through.

Analysis on affected regions.

The fault interlaced moving caused the ground facilities' damage in banding spread. It is directly related to the destructive intensity, fault characteristics and the distance from fault. In other words, it doesn't mean the areas without faults to go through will not



be damaged seriously. It depends on the distance from the fault. For example, Ju Long Pu fault doesn't pass through Guo Xing Hsiang, but it is nearby and located on top of east side of contrary thrusting fault. 921 Earthquake caused many deaths and injuries, and buildings damaged in this area.
