After 921 earthquake, all departments of the government plunged into post-disaster recovery jobs. Being designated by post-disaster reconstruction impetus committee of Executive Yuan, we were responsible for the construction team's reconstruction job. It included public building. In order to effectively control the damage situation and start the reconstruction job, we set up " public building recovery impetus team" to take charge of the inspection on damaged public buildings and reconstruction demands, estimation, and analysis. They also coordinated with different levels of the government to draw up the entire performing plan and support the public building reconstruction assignment to speed up the recovery of disaster areas.

In order to cope with the needs of public buildings construction, we have to unify and adjust the reconstruction plan from all institutions. The first thing to do is to proceed with individual inspection of 921 earthquake public buildings construction cases. With the information and results of the investigation, the database of public building construction cases in disaster areas should be set up as the reference for disaster area recovery. It is also good for resource distribution and future tracing and control on construction progress.
