The Status Quo and Resources Introduction

The whole park is projected into 3 areas: the Entrance Area, the Sport Activity Area, and the Forest & Botanical Area.

I.the Entrance Area of Metropolitan Park

2 main entrances are built respectively to the south of the Sport Activity Area and to the north of the Forest & Botanical Area. The north side of the Forest & Botanical Area connects with new Kaohsiung towns, and the south side of the Sport Activity Area attracts the tourists from different places. Moreover, a sculpture of "Golden Cock Sundial" is set up as the landmark of Metropolitan Park.

II.the Sport Activity Area (the 1st Phase)

It is located to the east of Chingpu Stream, and the area is about 35 hectares.

Primarily the recreation activities and service facilities such as swimming, various ball sports, lawn activities, parentage amusements, skating, and water games are arranged.

III.the Forest & Botanical Area (the 2nd Phase)

It is situated to the west of Chingpu Stream, and the area is about 60 hectares.

It takes advantage of the undulating terrain caused by the used rubbish-buried dump to be designed as the Forest & Botanical Area. There is a predominance of trees and plants, and the arbors are constructed only at good distant-view or resting positions. Among them, continuous footpaths are.

The tourists could be aware of the formation processes on man-made afforesting by offering a place for environmental education.

Facilities

Underground Parking Lot 2 floors under the ground allow 260 cars or so and will be run by the authorized private enterprise with tolls collecting. (free open )
Tourist Administration Center To handle diverse management matters, provide the information service to the tourists, accept the applications for activities as well as explanation and guidance for tour. The briefing room will play the brief introduction to Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park and the relevant films.
Children Game Room Only for the kids under 120 cm. There are ball pond, slide and toys for role-play.
Library for Children About 3000 books are collected in the library and suitable for the most of children of their ages. The comfortable space for reading is offered to the little readers.
Show Room The place for displaying and studying are available.
Activities Center Newspaper and magazines as well as national parks' films are available. A place is provided for spiritual leisure and entertainment, and the tourists of all ages are welcome to come.
Children Playground The game facilities for children like slide, seesaw, small labyrinth, rocking horse, and swing are set up.
Water Pool with View The site for water games and view-enjoying is served.
Footpath and Arbor The footpaths are for hiking, jogging, and biking; the arbors, resting outdoors.
Skating Rink 2 rinks are constructed – one is ring-shaped; another, circle. The citizens could have access free of charge.
Baseball Diamond It is open for the citizens and free of charge.
Tennis Court 8 PU courts are in total and will be controlled by the authorized private enterprises with tolls collecting. (free open )
Basketball Court 2 basketball courts are free for the citizens.

Remarks: The indoor facilities and service in the park close every Monday except that the Administration Center open all the year round.
